Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz's beloved characters celebrated Thanksgiving Day in the United States on November 26, 1965 when strips were published in newspapers across the nation for this special holiday occasion. The strip below shows Snoopy trying to cook for his friends by putting a pie into an oven and setting it at 400 degrees! Luckily for everyone, he remembers that he is cooking with gas and not electricity.
The next day, November 27th, Lucy tells Schroeder that "for weeks I've been begging my mother to let me invite you over for dinner... But she kept insisting on having it at her place." Lucy said she had done everything possible so she could have her own house "like every other American family". She claims they settled the argument by making it a pot-luck dinner, but Schroeder realizes he is being invited to Thanksgiving Day dinner.
More than 30 Peanuts strips published during 1969 show Snoopy and his friends celebrating the American holiday of Thanksgiving. Most of these strips were used in newspapers across America on November 27th, 1969. The day before this date was when the "Peanuts" holiday special It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown first aired on television. Also that year, Schulz drew seven promotional posters for United Features Syndicate which were reprinted in magazines across the continent. The poster below appeared in Playboy magazine! This poster will be discussed more thoroughly at a later date...

The next strip shows Charlie Brown being served a slice of Linus' pumpkin pie, but noticing that it is full of hair! It turns out to be Snoopy's hair. The last two panels show Sally asking Lucy why she gets second servings even though she didn't do anything special to deserve them. The final panel shows Lucy shouting at her sister, "I don't have to do anything special!"
Snoopy tries to get into the turkey's house but is stopped by a gun-toting madman who tells him, "Get away from my wife!" He later finds out that the turkey is named Mildred.
The final strip of this Thanksgiving special shows Snoopy in his World War I era flying ace outfit with the text, ""Happy Thanksgiving" everyone! Let's have another war!" This puzzle has been printed in several books and calendars over the years...
